Michigan POHI/SXI Conference Committee

The Michigan POHI/SXI Conference Committee is a not-for-profit organization that is responsible for the planning and presentation of an annual, state-wide, professional development event: the Michigan POH.I/SXI Conference. This unique conference targets the professional development, skills training, and person-to-person networking needs of educators, therapists, and parents who are involved with providing programs and services to children who have physical impairments (PI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), severe multiple impairments (SXI), and/or other health impairments (OHI). The training that is provided at this conference attempts to cover topics, specific skills and knowledge from diverse disciplines.

The Michigan POHI/SXI Conference Committee is composed of highly qualified current and retired educators, who volunteer their time and efforts to this planning committee. Collectively, the committee members log-in decades of higher education and experience
as special educators, as general education teachers, as parents, as teacher trainers, as coaches, as technical innovators, as advocates, as consultants, and as friends for the benefit of persons with special needs.

The Michigan POHI/SXI Conference Committee has planned and provided for 25 years
of state-wide conferences, by some accounts. Other committee members have traced
this series of conferences back to the 1975 Conference for Special Education Teacher

Consultants and Teachers of the Homebound and Hospitalized. Please, view the Conference Archives page for a historic perspective of the issues, topics, and speakers that have been presented over the years. However, we plan on growing this proud
tradition for producing exceptional quality conferences well into the future.

Looking forward to many more productive years together,

The Michigan POHI/SXI Conference Committee
